If you're a fan of contemporary art, this is your week. Starting on Tuesday, and really picking up steam through the weekend, NYC's Armory Arts Week 2014 is taking over huge spaces all over the city, with literally tens of thousands of individual works by artists and from galleries all over the world.
Welcome O’Merveilleux: NEW Upper East Side Bakery!
The amount of treat options in NYC is almost overwhelming these days for anyone with sweet tooth. Excellent baked goodies are abound all over town, whether you want cronuts, cookies, or cupcakes (regular, crazy-filled, or mini-cupcakes); macarons, mille feuille, or financiers; churros, caneles, or chocolates in every conceivable variation. Oh and lots and lots of excellent donuts!
Celebrate Mardi Gras in NYC: Best Concerts, Events, and Drink Specials
Though, as non-New Orleans natives, our Mardi Gras celebrations are not as intricate as they are down there: with all the floats, throws, and parades; the food, music, costumes, and, yes, the drinking... doesn't mean we all can't have fun celebrating these next few days leading up to and including Fat Tuesday! Ends This Saturday: Don’t Miss Li Hongbo’s Tools of Study at Klein Sun Gallery!

I really had no idea what to expect when I went to a preview showing, but after about an hour or so wandering through the many galleries, and the many different styles and […]
Iron Chef Amanda Freitag’s Reinvented Empire Diner in Chelsea
Every NYC neighborhood deserves a great diner. So, given the number of venerable cheap-eats spots closing of late, it was a relief that, shortly following last year's shuttering of Chelsea's iconic Empire Diner, it was announced that the spot would reopen, with a full menu reboot, and with none other than Iron Chef Amanda Freitag […]
Celebrating Black History Month 2014: NYC Events, Books, and Movies!
The concept of Black History Month dates back to 1926, when it was observed during the second week of the month, because that's when both Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass were born. Though in New York City there is never a shortage of ways to celebrate and honor the African American contributions and role in […]
Doug Wheeler Returns to David Zwirner Gallery With Another Brilliant Infinity Room
Last January we told you about Doug Wheeler's amazing "Infinity Environment" at the David Zwirner Gallery in Chelsea, for which the artist, just by using light, eliminated all of your visual reference points to the point where you literally had no clue what, if anything, was in front of you.
